THEORY:Western Medicine:  From www.webmd.com/cancer:  “Cancer, also called malignancy, is characterized by an abnormal growth of cells. There are more than 100 types of cancer, including breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and lymphoma. Cancer symptoms vary widely based on the type of cancer.”

Alternative: Everyone has cancer cells that exist. If the body is healthy and balanced and the immune system is strong, the body can keep those cells in check and they will not become cancerous /  malignant.

CAUSES:

Western Medicine:  Causes of cancer can be hereditary or environmental, or otherwise  random attacks on individuals.

Alternative: Cancer takes a long time to develop as it takes time for a body to become out of balance, and there are several warning signs that may not have been noticed, or were simply ignored. Diseases progress:

1 – irritation

2 – inflammation

3 – lesion

4 – induration (hardening) or tumor

5 – cancer (malignancy)

THOUGHTS:

Western Medicine: Thoughts of all the horror that must be endured, toxic chemotherapy and/or radiation – losing the hair, who will take the kids? How many people will come to my funeral? Will this be covered on insurance?

Alternative: Healthy and empowering thoughts to regain balance. Thoughts of healing, visualizations of a healthy body, of cancer being released.  Forgiveness. Finding and connecting with your purpose in this life. Meditation.

EMOTIONS:

Alternative: Learn to invite the emotions in, feel them completely, express them in healthy ways, and then release them. Louise Hay’s book “Heal Your Life” is a great resource and shows the emotional cause behind different conditions and diseases. Make a conscious effort to release all negative emotions and resentments.

Western Medicine: This whole situation is pretty depressing, so Prozac, Prozac, Prozac.

TREATMENTS:

Alternative: Treatments are dependent upon the cause in each individual; involves the examination of one’s health including mind, body and spirit. The treatment consists of regaining balance, or going back to basics. Cleanse toxins, release negative emotions, strengthen immune system, add nutrients, forgive. How can I regain balance? Listen to your body. What is it trying to tell you? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to heal?

Western medicine: (from www.webmd.com) “Cancer treatment includes chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.  If you’re considering complementary treatments for cancer, discuss this with your doctor as they may interact with other cancer treatment.” Listen to your doctor as he is the expert and knows what’s best for your health. (Notice how webmd.com subtly discredits complementary medicine and suggests that it may interfere with the “real” western medicine.)

SUMMARY:

Alternative Medicine: The patient must discover what is creating the imbalance and take steps to learn about and heal himself or herself. The patient must be willing to address the body, mind, and spirit and discover new ways to think and live.

Western Medicine: The patient must trust the doctor to “fix” them with the latest and greatest technology or chemotherapy.
